I serve from the pulpit, in the counseling room, and in the studio, and I am planting Oldtown Bible Church in Oldtown, Idaho. Everything here comes back to one conviction: God's Word is sufficient for real life, and people grow best when someone walks with them.
About
I'm Dave Whalen. I'm a husband to Jocelyn, a father of two, and a follower of Jesus who lives in Oldtown, Idaho.
Preaching
I love to open the Bible and let it speak plainly. My preaching aims to be faithful to the text, clear enough for anyone in the room, and pointed at Christ and real life on Monday morning.
Counseling
Life gets heavy: marriage strain, anxiety, grief, conflict, besetting sin. Scripture speaks to all of it, not as a set of quick fixes but as the living Word of a God who knows us and cares.
Church Plant
I am planting Oldtown Bible Church in Oldtown, Idaho. The church is not meeting yet. I will serve as the planting pastor.
Projects
I build tools that help the church care for people. Here's what I'm working on.
Music
Music was my first language. I have written, produced, and performed as a drummer, guitarist, and vocalist, and I produced records for other artists at Hammersmith Studios in Anchorage.
