I'm Dave Whalen. I'm a husband to Jocelyn, a father of two, and a follower of Jesus who lives in Oldtown, Idaho.

My path hasn't been a straight line. I started in music as a drummer, guitarist, vocalist, and producer. Along the way the Lord drew me deeper into His Word and into the lives of His people. That led to preaching, then to biblical counseling, and now to planting Oldtown Bible Church.

Jocelyn and I are both certified through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC). My certification includes a specialization in marriage. I care deeply about equipping ordinary believers to do the ministry of the Word with each other. That is why I build things: a course that trains believers to mentor struggling marriages, and software that helps counselors run their ministry well.

When I'm not studying or counseling, you'll probably find me in the shop or in front of an audio mixing console.
